  • Where's my Refund?

    Once we have filed the return, it is in the hands of the IRS. There are several ways that you can find out how long the wait will be by logging into the www.irs.gov website. The icon “where’s my refund” or download the app onto your phone. You only need the last four digits of your social and the exact amount that your return is.

  • How do I sign my Tax Return?

    There are multiple ways to sign form 8879 to allow us to electronically file your tax return. The different delivery methods are: in person or through our portal for an electronic signature. You will receive an email to the link for access to your client portal for esignature.

  • What do I do if I get a letter from the IRS?

    Send us a copy of the letter, front and back. We will have it evaluated from our IRS specialist and we will let you know if and how to take care of it. We are equipped to respond with a written notification. If it needs more escalation, we handle audits as well.

  • What do I do if I misplaced or haven't received a tax document from the IRS?

    You can get W2s and 1099s from the IRS website. www.irs.gov and go under wage and income transcript form. Follow their instructions, you can get your records here Tax Transcripts

  • Who can I claim as a dependent?

    A person can claim a Qualifying Child or Qualifying Relative as a dependent. There are tests used to confirm if someone is a qualifying child or relative, see below.

    Qualifying Child

    Must be the taxpayer’s child, stepchild, eligible foster child, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them.

    Be under the age of 19 or a full-time student under age 24, or any age if totally and permanently disabled.

    Lived with the taxpayer over half of the tax year.

    Provided less than half of their own support.

    Did not or will not file a joint return, unless only filed to claim a refund.

    They cannot be a qualifying child of another taxpayer that has higher priority under the tie-breaker rule.

    Qualifying Relative

    Cannot be the taxpayer’s or anyone else’s qualifying child.

    Must either live with the taxpayer all year as a member of the household or be related to the taxpayer.

    Have gross income of less than $4,150.

    The taxpayer must provide over half of the person’s support for the tax year.

  • I need a copy of my tax return. How do I get a copy?

    There’s 3 ways of doing that. We can send it through the portal, and you can print it out. We can mail the return to you, or we can make arraignments to meet and pick up a copy. A small fee will be assessed if we have to print the return. You are also able to view your tax transcripts by following the instructions Request a Copy of Transcripts

  • What forms do I need to file my taxes?

    Here are some tips on how to get ready. Please remember every taxpayer’s situation is unique there are of course many other documents which may or may not apply to you.

    Many of the needed documents may come into your mailbox one by one. If not, make sure you contact your employer, financial institution or university.

    Copy of a valid Driver’s license or Identification (unexpired)

    Social Security or ITIN Numbers with date of births for anyone who’ll be on your tax return

    Childcare payment records with licensed provider’s ID number(s)

    Bring any & all W-2, 1098, 1099 & schedule K-1 forms (income/loss from partnerships, S corporations, mortgage interest) and property tax statements etc.)

    Education scholarships or fellowships

    Brokerage statements from stock, bond or other investment transactions (these are normally covered by 1099-DIVs and 1099-Bs)

    Closing statements pertaining to real estate transactions

    Any tax notices received from the IRS or other taxing authorities

    Please bring a copy of your prior year tax return as well as annual sums of deductions by category.

    Birth / death certificate

    Marketplace Statement

    Mortgage interest, real estate & personal property tax records

    Casualty & theft losses

    Amounts of state & local income tax paid in prior years

    Records of cash donations to religious institutions, schools & other charities

    Records on non-cash charitable donations

    Self-employment or contractor expenses (travel, tools, cell phone charges, uniform cost/cleaning, luggage, services fees, trade journals, meals & entertainment)

    Moving expenses

    Records of any contributions to IRAs, HSAs & other retirement plans

    Records of tuition and other higher education expenses (books, computers, etc.)

    Detailed list of any deductions, donations and medical expenses

  • Can I file Head of Household (HOH)?

    Below are the criteria that must be met to file HOH.

    The taxpayer cannot be married at the end of the tax year.

    The taxpayer paid over half the cost of keeping up their home.

    Their home was the principal residence of either the taxpayer’s qualifying child or a qualifying relative.

    The taxpayer must be a U.S. citizen or resident for the entire tax year.

  • How do I provide missing info to my Tax Preparer?
